Omniquad's Desktop Surveillance offers a unique approach to the problem of access control, access prevention, or investigation when it comes to the use or misuse of computer equipment and software. Instead of merely obstructing the user's actions (one of the oldest prevention methods known), the program deters intruders with the prospect of being watched and found out. This software equivalent of a surveillance camera works by recording desktop activity. It offers two modes of operation: one displays warning signs in order to discourage misuse, and the other monitors activity secretly. The application can store days of recordings, and the settings can be tailored for virtually any situation. For example, recording can be activated at designated times only, during specified applications, or upon logon to the Internet.
